The eco-feminist lab: gender, bodies, and identities

Join us for AgoraHub’s second engaging exploration of the intersections between research, artistic practice, and political activism. This event will begin with a participatory ‘act’ led by artist and performer Maximilian Gutmair, inviting attendees to engage with clay. The embodied practice serves as a powerful introduction, reflecting one of the core principles of ecofeminism: the importance of connecting with the material world and our bodily experiences.

Following this immersive moment, we will frame the concept of ecofeminism with insights from Asmae Ourkiya, founder of The Ecofeminist Institute. We will then delve into a thought-provoking discussion featuring Pauline Kargruber and Teja Šosterič from The Rachel Carson Center. Together, we will examine how neoliberal ideology shapes cultural production and influences public perceptions of the ecological crisis. This critical dialogue aims to unveil the underlying power dynamics that impact both environmental narratives and societal responses.

Our exploration will also address the representation of women in literature, often depicted as „monsters“ and „beasts“. By integrating feminist and ecocritical perspectives, we will analyze how emotions such as fear and disgust manifest in literary works. This segment will encourage a deeper reflection on critical questions surrounding representation and agency, challenging traditional narratives that marginalize women’s voices.

From the body to the mind, and into the act of writing, prepare to embark on a transformative journey at the second event of AgoraHub2 – Water Me’s second series of public talks.
